Rules and Policies

Welcome to the TorvServ Minecraft Server!

Information
Website: info.torvserv.com  (You should know this, you’re here)
Live Map: map.torvserv.com
Here are some the basic rules of our free play server.
  1. Do not grief others buildings. If you are caught griefing you will be banned.
    No questions asked.
  2. Always ask if you want to start a project near an existing one. If they say no, be polite and find another area. Generally, a 100 block distance from others structures is assumed to be necessary. If you have questions or doubts; just ask.
  3. Be respectful. No excessive language, obnoxious signs and/or other objects.
  4. We have plugins. If you don’t understand the plugins installed, or just have a question, please ask. (More on this below)
  5. We’re a community of sharers. If you have left over items that you aren’t using for your exploration or creations, let everyone know. Someone will use it, somewhere... Except gravel, no one uses gravel.....by the same token, if you need a hand with something, or some extra resources, just ask, and someone will probably step up and help you.

Plugins and Usage:

Lockette: This allows us to lock chests, dispensers, furnaces, and doors. For some objects, (like chests,) its as simple as right clicking the side of the chest with a sign. For others, you may have to place the sign on a block that is directly in front of the object to protect, and making the first line of the sign [PRIVATE] or [LOCKED], including the brackets. As a side note, while moderators will investigate and take appropriate actions regarding griefing, theft is another matter entirely. Given the difficulty and increased server overhead required for tracking who takes what from where, chest security is up to each individual. If you lock the chest, you are the only one who can access it, besides moderators. So if you have valuables, it is YOUR responsibility to lock the chest, furnace, or dispenser they are contained in. For more info or details about the plugin, check out the development page: Lockette

PLGWarp: This simple plugin gives us Warps that can help us to get around the map rapidly. To show a list of available warps, type "/warplist" To utilize one of the warps identified with the /warplist command, simply type "/warp WARPNAME," and you will be magically transported to the site of WARPNAME.

Dynmap: This plugin gives us a web-based Dynamic map that is accessible via the URL map.torvserv.com. This map has several layers, from flat to isometric to a "cave view" map. Very handy for getting around, and for seeing where others are.

Economy (Temporarily Disabled): We use an economy plugin called BOSEcon; this plugin has many features, yet only a limited number of them are utilized on our server. The main uses we have for this are in our shop or marketplace, and for direct payment between members. All of this is explained over on our "Marketplace/Economy Usage" page. Link is on the right side of the page.

CreeperHeal: Tired of creepers trashing your stuff, or accidentally igniting your wooden buildings? We have a mod on this server that will automatically repair damage done to buildings or structures by explosions or fire. Explosion damage will begin to heal automatically within 2 seconds. Fire damage will begin to automatically heal within 2 minutes. This mod also stops damage done by TNT or intentional fire setting, as a measure against griefers.

Logging: Mods have the ability to view the history of any block or section of blocks; so if you suspect that someone has been tampering with your structures, let a Mod or Admin know, and they will come to investigate. If it turns out someone has been tampering with things they shouldn't have been, they will be summarily banned. Ban appeals can be made to torvserv@gmail.com.
